The rotation shall occur in the following sequence, which may be amended or adjusted as necessary: 2018: AIA Arizona 2019: AIA Wyoming 2020: AIA New Mexico 2021: AIA Colorado 2022: AIA Utah 2023: AIA Nevada Jason Pettigrew Legacy Fellow Program New to 2018, the WMR Directors spearheaded a program to not only further donations to the Jason Pettigrew Leadership Scholarship fund but also offer our new fellows an opportunity to give back and connect with our region’s next generation of leaders. As is WMR tradition, the presentation of and engraved Nambe platter in recognition of our new regional fellow’s achievements is presented to each new fellow annually at our national conference on architecture. This is a truly wonderful tradition, cherished by many and unique to the Western Mountain Region! In addition to the Nambe platter and also new in 2018, we encouraged all newWMR fellows to participate at A’18 as an inaugural “WMR Jason Pettigrew Legacy Fellow” by donating $250 toward the WMR Jason Pettigrew Leadership Scholarship. This initiative proved itself as an opportunity to invest in the future of our regional membership and as a result, we had half of our new fellows step up and become our inaugural class. We would like to thank the following for their patronage and cherished support of the future of our profession. 2018 Jason Pettigrew Legacy Fellows Tania S Salgado, FAIA [AIA Colorado] Stuart L. AIA Awareness Campaign 2018: Blueprint for Better -This year’s campaign focuses on civic leaders and architects working in partnership to create a blueprint for better. Blueprint for Better: Hosting a Blueprint for Better Panel event positions architects and your AIA Chapter as a “convener” for addressing (and solving!) the critical issues that face cities, including rising water, natural disasters, sustainability, and housing shortages. A resource has been created to guide you through planning your own Blueprint for Better panel. For More Information, contact Caitlin Reagan: caitlinreagan@aia.org | (202) 626 7548 School Safety Campaign: On August 13th, AIANational launched a long term campaign regarding school safety that includes timed and coordinated action plans for media and communications as well as a legislative and regulatory plan complemented by a grassroots mobilization plan. This three-pronged approach will allow us to create a comprehensive long-term strategy on school safety, help mitigate consequences of school shootings, and position architects as experts and leaders on this issue. This will not only continue to ensure architects influence this issue, but also position AIA to push for local, state, and federal public policies that will have a real and positive impact on solving this problem. Where We Stand - School Safety Sexual Harassment: The AIA Equity in Architecture Commission is working to produce Equitable Practice Guides. These are being produced in partnership with University of Minnesota. The first three chapters will be released in September. b 5458 Longley Lane, Suite B Reno, NV 89511 P: 775-826-3019 rhyytinenengineering.com www.hyytinenengineering.com Hyytinen Engineering is celebrating over 34 years of structural engineering services across the state of Nevada and Northern California.
