14 NORTHERN NEVADA ARCHITECTECTURE .19 | 2019 | www.aiann.org T he AIANN Learning Lunch is part of our chapter’s mission to provide continuing education opportunities to our members. Because of the many other events that we have had this year (Black Rock Design Lectures, D.I.C.E., Architecture Week), we only held one luncheon in March. This year’s luncheon focused on the ways that emerging camera technologies are changing the way that architects evaluate sites and buildings. Our first speakers were Jarrett Rosenau and Todd Miknus from Clark/Sullivan, who discussed how they used digital imaging to create 3D models of existing buildings. They presented an example of a hospital renovation, where having accurate locations of all of the elements was critical to the success of the project. The next speaker was Tylor Foster of the First Take Aerial, who explained how drones could be used to create site surveys in a fraction of the time of conventional methods. We wish to give a special thanks to the Nevada chapter of Associated General Contractors (AGC), Basalite, and Clark/Sullivan for hosting and sponsoring this event. We will continue to work with all of our great partners in the future to help bring quality continuing education to our community. b AIANN LEARNING LUNCHES Drone Image Courtesy of Clark/Sullivan Construction BY KEVIN MERKLING, AIANN TREASURER Damonte Ranch High School Expansion Photo Courtesy of GML Architects Our Services Civil Engineering Structural Engineering Geotechnical Engineering Construction Services Landscape Architecture Surveying Planning Carson City • Fallon • Lake Tahoe • Reno www.LumosInc.com Celebrating 40 Years of Working with Architects in Our Community!
