16 NORTHERN NEVADA ARCHITECTECTURE .19 | 2019 | www.aiann.org Y oDeNG, or the “ Yo ung De signers N etworking G roup”, provides opportunities for local professions to meet and have some fun at the same time! An excuse to get out and break free from our day to day routines, YoDeNG (pronounced “yo-dang”) aims to foster a nucleus of like-minded, yet diverse, up-and-coming design professionals at a monthly meet and greet at different locations in the area. Typically held on the last Thursday of each month after work, a group of designers (both new and experienced) will get together to unwind and discuss anything and everything that comes up. Meet new people and bring anyone who might want to contribute! The last year of YoDeNG has been a productive one. There has been a slew of meetups at great new locations around town, including the regular brewery visit. YoDeNG also cohosted a few events during architecture week, including a thrilling night of strategy and team building at a local puzzle room. The group has also begun to reach out to groups adjacent to the AIANN, like organizations of graphic designers, engineers, interior designers, and landscape architects, to encourage an ever- expanding stream of new ideas and perspectives. The goal of YoDeNG is to strengthen cross-disciplinary relationships, support growing talents, and affect positive change within the Northern Nevada design community and beyond. Those looking to participate, get involved, or even be a fly on the wall should reach out to the organizer; Maggie Will, at maggiemwill@gmail.com, or the AIANN at aiann@aiann.org . Additional information, including upcoming events, can be found at aiann.org and on the AIANN Facebook page. b BY MAGGIE WILL, AIANN EMERGING PROFESSIONALS DIRECTOR
